A hard-hitting, hard-nosed defenseman, Jamie Macoun could be counted on to stand up for his teammates and do whatever it took to win back when the Flames won the Stanley Cup in 1989.
“Cooner” demonstrates the same drive and enthusiasm he displayed during his hockey career as the co-owner of a Ford Lincoln dealership in Orangeville, Ontario, and when using his real estate licence to close the deal for prospective home buyers here in Calgary.
Proudly representing the Flames Alumni, Jamie journeyed to Afghanistan where he was deeply moved by how a simple, physical expression of support could mean so much to our soldiers.
“Because I was a civilian I could give a soldier a hug, and they were not shy at all about hugging you right back, because they’re not allowed to touch each other over there. No physical contact allowed. So I gave a lot of hugs realizing that so many mothers and fathers over there haven't seen their children or their spouses for literally months and months.”
Jamie lives in Calgary and has plenty of hugs for his three kids; twenty-one year old Colin, eighteen-year old Kati, and fifteen-year old Jenna.
