A solid defenseman who played with an edge, Dana Murzyn contributed a relentless physicality to the Calgary Flames Stanley Cup Championship team of 1989.
Always known as a hard worker and a good teammate, the towering Murzyn puts his powerful mitts to work at Dreamworks, a residential and commercial custom millwork shop in Calgary.
As someone who lived the NHL dream, Dana has some advice for local minor hockey coaches.
“Equalize the ice-time, because there’s way too much emphasis on separating kids based on talent. You don’t learn unless you get the opportunity to try new things, so I wish more coaches would focus their efforts on teaching skating techniques and ensuring equal play.”
